The Athens Township Zoning Hearing Board hears and decides appeals from the determination of the zoning officer, requests for variances of the zoning ordinance, requests for special exceptions (as provided for in the Zoning Ordinance), and substantive challenges to the validity of any land use ordinance. This exclusive jurisdiction is granted pursuant to the provisions of the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code.

The Zoning Hearing Board meets and holds public hearings as needed on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM. The meetings are advertised and open to the public.

The (3) Zoning Hearing Members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors.
